Genesis 2:20 (NKJV) So Adam gave names to all cattle, to the birds of the air, and to every beast of the field. But for Adam there was not found a helper comparable to him.

Adam noticed something when he was naming the animals and birds. He saw that there were males and females. Each male had a mate that was similar to himself, yet different. Adam realized that he was not complete, for he too needed a mate, someone comparable to himself, yet different. It is God’s intention for both man and woman to be married, for a woman is a man’s counterpart. She is his helper. She completes him. God formed Adam’s bride from one of his ribs, taken from his side. Because she would be equal with him, to be alongside him. That is God’s purpose, a woman is to be the other half of man. She was taken from under his arm to be protected. She was taken from near his heart to be loved. A wife is beautiful for she is the other half of her husband. She completes him. God gave headship in a marriage to man, for He intended husbands to take the lead. As Adam was created first, then Eve. A wife is to follow her husband, meaning, she is to respond to him. When a husband tells his wife, “I love you,” in words and deeds, then she is going to respond back with love. That is the kind of loving relationship God intended for a man and a woman. The husband taking the lead in love and the wife responding likewise to him. That is how God intended marriage to be. It is to be a monogamous, faithful, committed, and loving union between a man and a woman. “Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and they shall become one flesh” (Genesis 2:24 NKJV). Like all divine institutions, marriage was established for man’s good and cannot be broken with impunity. For the marriage bond is liken to the relationship that exists between Christ and the church. My friend, if you are married or planning to be married, this is God’s intention for both husband and wife.

God Bless and have a great day in God’s Word.
