James 3:4-6 (NKJV) Look also at ships: although they are so large and are driven by fierce winds, they are turned by a very small rudder wherever the pilot desires. Even so the tongue is a little member and boasts great things. See how great a forest a little fire kindles! And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity. The tongue is so set among our members that it defiles the whole body, and sets on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire by hell.

Large ships are controlled by a little rudder which is not even seen. The tongue, meaning what we say, can also change the course of our lives. Miss guided words can ruined us. Harmful gossip can wreck people. The tongue, meaning what we say, can be dangerous. It can cause more harm than good. Perhaps, it is why a lying tongue is one of the seven things God hates. For careless words can cause strife. Cruel words can wreck the lives of people. Bitter words can instill hate. And brutal words can kill. For a tongue that is out of control is set on fire by hell, causing one to speak like the piercing of a sword that kills. On the other hand, a tongue that is under control is a blessing. For gracious words can calm conflicts. Joyous words can lift the hearts of people. Timely words can bring about peace. And loving words can heal. And so, it is with the Word of God.

God Bless and have a great day in God’s Word.
