Psalm 140:8-13 (NKJV) Do not grant, O Lord, the desires of the wicked; Do not further his wicked scheme, Lest they be exalted. Selah “As for the head of those who surround me, Let the evil of their lips cover them; Let burning coals fall upon them; Let them be cast into the fire, Into deep pits, that they rise not up again. Let not a slanderer be established in the earth; Let evil hunt the violent man to overthrow him.” I know that the Lord will maintain The cause of the afflicted, And justice for the poor. Surely the righteous shall give thanks to Your name; The upright shall dwell in Your presence.

This is a prayer against the wicked man. But it is not the kind of prayer we as believers should pray. Rather, we are to submit to God’s instructions found in Romans 12:19–21 (NKJV) which says, “Beloved, do not avenge yourselves, but rather give place to wrath; for it is written, “Vengeance is Mine, I will repay,” says the Lord. Therefore “If your enemy is hungry, feed him; If he is thirsty, give him a drink; For in so doing you will heap coals of fire on his head.” Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.” Don’t let yourself become bitter towards your enemies. Don’t let enmity and revenge consume you. These things will separate you from a walk of faith. Trust in the LORD and He will take care of things. Vengeance, my friend, belongs to the LORD. Trust in God. Then you can do something good for those who attack you. Trusting in the LORD guarantees us a victory. “For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith” (1 John 5:4 NKJV). The wicked who spread rumors and lies about you will not succeed against you. Their lies will be made known. The truth will prevail. For “If God is for us, who can be against us?” (Romans 8:31 NKJV). No one can prevent and hamper God’s work. Be confident in the righteousness of God. God sees your afflictions and He knows your situation. Be steadfast in your faith. Trust in the LORD. For the righteous shall always have reason to thank God for His help. Because God will and always prevail. And most of all my friend, remember that those who walk upright in the righteousness of the LORD shall dwell in His presence forever.

God Bless and have a great day in God’s Word.
