Psalm 55:6-8 (NKJV) So I said, “Oh, that I had wings like a dove! I would fly away and be at rest. Indeed, I would wander far off, And remain in the wilderness. Selah I would hasten my escape From the windy storm and tempest.”

David was advised to hideaway in the mountain, but he would not do it. And now he wishes that he would have taken that advice, for now all seems lost. Even his trusted advisor Ahithophel has betrayed him. Only if he could run away from his troubles, he would waste no time in doing so. We all can relate to David, I am most certain of that. How often have we taken confidence in someone? And considered that person a trusted friend, only to be betrayed by him or her. We all have experienced the bitterness of betrayal. Even those in the ministry are not immune from the cruelty of betrayal. Yes, it is not uncommon to be betrayed. And it seems to hurt even more when it is a Christian brother or sister in whom you have placed your confidence betrays you. I tell you, it really hurts. I know it to be true. But one can only press on towards the goal, towards Christ. And continue on in the task that God has ordained you to do. Knowing that suffering for what is right and for God is a test of faith which strengthens our hope, and proves our faith to be genuine. And most of all suffering for what is right and for God brings us closer to Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior. “Therefore do not cast away your confidence, which has great reward” (Hebrews 10:35 NKJV).

God Bless and have a great day in God’s Word.
