Mark 4:20 (NKJV) “But these are the ones sown on good ground, those who hear the word, accept it, and bear fruit: some thirtyfold, some sixty, and some a hundred.”
This is our Lord Jesus Christ’s explanation of the parable of the Sower as found in Mark 4:13-20. The sower is the Lord Jesus Christ Himself and the seed is the Word of God. The wayside-ground are people who hear the Word of God but totally and determinedly rejects the Lord Jesus Christ, because they hate everything that has to do with God. They are unmoved, untroubled and unbroken. And Satan uses their indifference to quickly snatch away the Word of God to keep them away from God. The stony–ground are people who hear the Word of God but only superficially accept the Lord Jesus Christ. They are not really committed to Christ, because they have no deep repentance and remorse of their sins. Christ is not the Lord of their lives. They are ruled by their flesh. And Satan uses affliction and persecution against their lack of commitment to easily turn them away from God. The thorny–ground are people who hear the Word of God and outwardly accepts the Lord Jesus Christ but they cannot let go of worldly things. And Satan uses the cares of the world to distract them and to make them lose interest in God, until finally they turn completely away from God. The good–ground are people who hear the Word of God and genuinely accepts the Lord Jesus Christ. They are truly born again by the transforming power of the Holy Spirit. They truly love Jesus with all of their heart, with all of their soul and with all of their mind. They are fully committed to Christ. And Christ is their heart’s desire. Neither the flesh, the world, nor Satan can shake their confidence in the Lord Jesus Christ. These true believers bring forth varying percentages of fruit, and only one third of these bring forth a hundredfold. These different amounts of fruitfulness represent the different degrees of productivity among Christians. Believers who are most productive are those who obeys the Word of God promptly, unquestioningly, and joyfully. My friend, this is something to think about and act upon while we wait for the return of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
God Bless and have a great day in God’s Word.
