Acts 16:30-34 (NKJV) 30 And he brought them out and said, “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?” 31 So they said, “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved, you and your household.” 32 Then they spoke the word of the Lord to him and to all who were in his house. 33 And he took them the same hour of the night and washed their stripes. And immediately he and all his family were baptized. 34 Now when he had brought them into his house, he set food before them; and he rejoiced, having believed in God with all his household.
See how Paul and Silas responded to their unjust arrest and suffering. The jailer saw their answer, and he saw the mighty acts of God. Their testimony brought the jailer to his knees. He looked beyond this life-time into eternity, and he finally knew that he was a lost man. He was a sinner, and he needed God’s salvation. But how can a man be reconciled to God? What must we do to be saved? Paul and Silas’s answer made it clear. All anyone must do is simply believe on the Lord Jesus Christ. No other works are needed “Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved” (Acts 4:12 NKJV). Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved. And if your household believes on the Lord Jesus Christ, then they shall be saved as well. See how the indwelling of the Holy Spirit changes lives. The jailer had put the stripes on Paul and Silas, but after accepting Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, he washes their stripes. Believing in the Lord Jesus Christ changes lives. That is the evidence that you are truly saved. Believing by faith is not just knowing who Jesus is and the things that He did. Saving faith is to trust, meaning to rely on, the Lord Jesus Christ as your Savior. Saving faith is taking what you believe and acting upon it. Saving faith is faith in action. Trust in the Lord Jesus Christ. Rely on Christ alone for your salvation. The jailer and his family placed their trust in the Lord Jesus Christ and they immediately expressed their faith by being baptized. My friend, saving faith causes an inner change of your life that is expressed outwardly with great joy.
God Bless and have a great day in God’s Word.
