Matthew 5:6 (NKJV) Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, For they shall be filled.
Does the natural man, meaning our old nature, does he hunger and thirst for righteousness? It is easily noticeable that those who live in the flesh do not. Why? Because “the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned” (1 Corinthians 2:14 NKJV). Our old nature, the natural man, thinks that the things of God are simply nonsense. The Word of God does not make sense to unbelievers. The life, death and resurrection of the Son of God, Jesus Christ, for salvation is foolish to those who live in the flesh. To them, it simply does not make sense that they need a Savior and that Christ is salvation. Not until the Holy Spirit of God opens their hearts, then they will understand. And for that to happen, they will have to let Christ into their hearts. For Jesus said “Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me” (Revelation 3:20 NKJV). The Word of God is spiritually discerned. And the Holy Spirit will open up the Scriptures to you that you may dine on it, when you let the Lord Jesus Christ into your heart and life. Only the Holy Spirit of God can take the Word of God and show them to us. “For what man knows the things of a man except the spirit of the man which is in him? Even so no one knows the things of God except the Spirit of God” (1 Corinthians 2:11 NKJV). This is why our Lord Jesus Christ said “when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come. He will glorify Me, for He will take of what is Mine and declare it to you” (John 16:13–14 NKJV). My friend, unless the Holy Spirit of God shows you the things of God, the Word of God will mean very little to you. For the natural man, our old nature, is in contrast to the new nature, a spiritual man, who has found that the Son of God, the Lord Jesus Christ, is his salvation and righteousness. “For there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved” (Acts 4:12 NKJV). Because our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ “became for us wisdom from God—and righteousness and sanctification and redemption” (1 Corinthians 1:30 NKJV). Christ is everything that we need. Whatever it is that you need, my friend, you will find it in Christ Jesus the Son of God.
God Bless and have a great day in God’s Word.
