1 Corinthians 3:11 (NKJV) For no other foundation can anyone lay than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ.
When we come to Christ, we come to Him with no works. We come to the Lord Jesus Christ with nothing, and He gives us everything. We were put on that solid Rock which is Christ. And we now can build upon that Rock. The question is are you building on Christ? This is where good works are anchored on. For the Lord Jesus Christ is the foundation of our faith, His Person and His work. For God alone, “He only is my rock and my salvation; He is my defense; I shall not be moved. In God is my salvation and my glory; The rock my strength, And my refuge, is in God” (Psalm 62:6-7 NKJV). Yes, “my hope is built on nothing less, then Jesus’ blood and righteousness; I dare not trust the sweetest frame. But wholly lean on Jesus’ name.” Surly, “on Christ, the solid Rock, I stand. All other ground is sinking sand.” John Donne, an English poet and cleric in the Church of England (1572-1631) wrote:
He is my rock, and my salvation, and my defense, and my refuge and my glory.
If my refuge, what enemy can pursue me?
If my defense, what temptation shall wound me?
If my rock, what storm shall shake me?
If my salvation, what melancholy shall deject me?
If my glory, what calumny shall defame me?
My friend, are you on this Rock? Whoever is anchored on this Rock, which is Christ, shall be saved.
God Bless and have a great day in God’s Word.
