Philemon 3-5 (NKJV) Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. 4 I thank my God, making mention of you always in my prayers, 5 hearing of your love and faith which you have toward the Lord Jesus and toward all the saints,

See how the Apostle Paul always greets people and every church to which he wrote: “Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.” This was how Paul expressed, as best he could, his love to those who loved the Lord Jesus Christ. Paul prayed for many people, for all the underserved favor of God to be showered upon them. He prayed for their lives to be stabilized by the spiritual serenity and poise that comes from the grace of God. Both of these blessings, grace and peace comes from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. And Paul prayed especially for Philemon because Philemon was a prominent person in the community and in the early church. Because the life of Philemon was a testimony for all who knew him, for he showed love toward the Lord Jesus Christ and toward other believers. Philemon’s faith was toward the Lord Jesus Christ, and he lived out his faith towards other believers. This were the noble characteristics of Philemon: love and faith. And it ought to be characteristics that we ourselves display in our lives because of the grace of God that is also poured out upon us. Love and faith ought to be the basis for our relationships with our brothers and sisters in Christ. Our faith in Christ ought to show that we have Christ in us. And our love towards other believers ought to show that we are in Christ. Faith and love are the keys to a productive Christian life. Where the reality of our faith in the Lord Jesus Christ is expressed in the love that we have for our brothers and sisters in Christ.

God Bless and have a great day in God’s Word.
