Matthew 6:26 (NKJV) Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?

Does this mean we are not to sow, reap and gather anything into barns, just as the little birds do not? Do they even realize that there is a God who takes care of them? Without knowledge of God, they are taken care of by God the Creator who cares for His creation. Does this draw us then into a deeper state of trust in God? Are we drawn into a closer relationship to God the Creator of the heavens and the earth? For we know God exists and He reconciled us unto Himself with the shed blood of His Son Jesus Christ. Again, how much more should we trust God who saved us from the pits of hell? Friends, we are to trust God with all our mind, body and soul. For in all of creation, God created man in His own image. Therefore, in comparison with the rest of creation, “Are you not of more value than they?” You are so valuable to God that God sent His Son Jesus Christ to die for you so that you might live. Because of this, we are of more value than the rest of creation, and we can surely expect God to take care of our needs. But this does not mean, that we are to just simply sit around and do nothing. For even the little birds are not simply sitting around waiting for bird seeds to fall out of the sky. We are to do things, but in all that we do, we are not to do it independent of God. Rather we are to be completely dependent on God. We are to recognize the fact that God has given us the ability to do what we do, and we should honor God for it. Simply put, we are to do all things to give honor and glory to God, and He will all the more sustain us. And one final important note, we are not to go through life with material things becoming a burden to us. Meaning if material things takes us away from God, then those things are detrimental to our fellowship with God. And having been given a free-will, we need to decide what is more important to us. And as the old line in the old movie goes, “choose wisely” my friend.

God Bless and have a great day in God’s Word.
