1 Peter 1:7 (NKJV) that the genuineness of your faith, being much more precious than gold that perishes, though it is tested by fire, may be found to praise, honor, and glory at the revelation of Jesus Christ,

Simon Peter uses the wonderful word “precious” to describe the trial of our faith. He says “That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold” (1 Peter 1:7 KJV). After gold is mined, it is put into a red–hot furnace to purify the gold. Likewise, our faith is put through a refining fire to purify our faith. The trial of our faith is the way God will develop our character to be more like Christ Jesus our Lord and Savior. At the time of testing, not tempting. There is a big difference, for Satan uses temptation to get us to sin. However, God allows the temptation to reveal in us His precious Son Jesus Christ. This is God’s method to transform us into the likeness of Christ. This is God’s school of transformation. These days we have lost sight of this great truth. For we are taught to be sufficient within ourselves, to work hard to live the Christian life. Friend, we are not adequate in of ourselves to transform ourselves into the likeness of Christ. Let me explain, we come to God as sinners. God saves us by His grace through the shed blood of His Son Jesus Christ. Then God wants to live His life through us by Christ within us. This is the simplicity of it all, when we abide in Christ then Christ abides in us, then we are able to live the Christian life. God tries to teach us this through the trials of our faith. God is drawing us closer to Him and revealing more of Christ in us through our trials. There are no shortcuts or easy road to spiritual maturity. The only thing that will purify our faith is the Refiner’s fire, the trial of our faith which God sends to us. And when all is said and done, when Christ returns, we will thank God for our trials. For when we are finally in His presence, we will see the value of them. The Apostle Peter wrote these words when his own crucifixion was near. He says that the trials of our faith are going to bring out what is precious and pure within us when we appear in Christ’s presence. The completion of our salvation, the pinnacle of our spiritual maturity will be realized when we shall be like Christ at His appearing when we see Him as He is. My friend, this is what we are to look forward too.

God Bless and have a great day in God’s Word.
