Mark 5:18-20 (NKJV) And when He got into the boat, he who had been demon-possessed begged Him that he might be with Him. However, Jesus did not permit him, but said to him, “Go home to your friends, and tell them what great things the Lord has done for you, and how He has had compassion on you.” And he departed and began to proclaim in Decapolis all that Jesus had done for him; and all marveled.
The man, who Jesus cast out the legion of demons from within him into a herd of about two thousand pigs that ran violently down the steep cliff into the sea and drowned, wanted to go with Jesus. The man begged to accompany Jesus, for He had healed him. But Jesus sent the man home to Decapolis as a living witness of God’s great power and mercy that sets people free. The man who had been given a new life obeyed, and he spread the good news to all the people in Decapolis, an area covering ten cities. Friend, this is the standing commandment or task, if you will, for all who have experienced God’s great power of mercy and grace by means of the shed blood of Jesus Christ. All who are saved by the reconciliation power of the substitutional sacrifice of the Lord Jesus Christ ought to obey Jesus’ instructions: “Go home to your friends, and tell them what great things the Lord has done for you, and how He has had compassion on you.” For my friend, evangelism begins at home.
God Bless and have a great day in God’s Word.
