Colossians 2:8 (NKJV) Beware lest anyone cheat you through philosophy and empty deceit, according to the tradition of men, according to the basic principles of the world, and not according to Christ.

Here is a warning to all believers. The Apostle Paul says to look out, stop, look, and listen.
“Lest anyone cheat you through philosophy and empty deceit.” Philosophy of the world and worldly philosophy within the church do not have a high view of the divine inspiration of the Word of God. Philosophy tries to explain the meaning of life and tries to solve life problems, but it can’t. Because neither the meaning of life and the resolutions of the problems of life can be found in philosophy. For truth is not found in human wisdom. Jesus is the answer for the meaning of life and the problems of life. Above Him there is no other. Jesus is the answer for the world today. Philosophy cannot help you find true wisdom. “But of Him you are in Christ Jesus, who became for us wisdom from God—and righteousness and sanctification and redemption—that, as it is written, “He who glories, let him glory in the Lord”” (1 Corinthians 1:30-31 NKJV). True wisdom is only found in the Lord Jesus Christ. For Jesus said “I have come as a Light into the world, that whoever believes in Me should not abide in darkness” (John 12:46 NKJV). But worldly philosophy is like a blind man searching in a dark room for a black cat that isn’t even in the room. Simply put, real truth cannot be found in worldly philosophy because real truth does not exist in philosophy. Paul warns the Colossians, and all who believes in Christ, to beware of philosophy and its empty deceit. Paul also warns believers not to make the religious traditions of men more important than the Word of God. This is the problem with religion today, there are so many men made traditions, rules, laws and rituals that pushes out the Word of God. That is why it is so important to focus on a relationship with God rather than having a religion. And to have a relationship with Christ and God the Father who sent Him, we must get to know Christ and the Father by reading, studying and applying to our lives the total Word of God. For Jesus said, “And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent” (John 17:3 NKJV). This is why it is important for us to study the entire Word of God. Friend, our faith is not founded upon worldly philosophy and religious traditions of men that are basic principles of a worldly system. Rather, our faith is founded upon and built upon the Lord Jesus Christ. Jesus is the answer for the truth that you are searching for. For Jesus said “I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life. No one comes to the Father except through Me” (John 14:6 NKJV).

God Bless and have a great day in God’s Word.
