1 Samuel 25:23 (NKJV) Now when Abigail saw David, she dismounted quickly from the donkey, fell on her face before David, and bowed down to the ground.
Now David had been cheated by Nabal. They had an agreement, a contract so to speak. David kept his end of the bargain, but Nabal cheated on his. This enraged David and he was going to take what was rightfully owed to him. But Abigail meets with David on the road. And she pleads for mercy and apologizes for her husband Nabal’s foolish actions. And she understands David’s just anger, and he had every right to think that her husband was a worthless person. And she begs for mercy. Abigail calls David a godly man and she admires him for it. And she knows that Saul, who is pursuing David, is not a righteous man and he is not God’s anointed. Rather David is anointed by God as the rightful king of Israel. God is on David’s side. And his life is bundled up in the eternal life of God. Friends, that is exactly our position in the Lord Jesus Christ. God is on our side. And our lives are bundled up in the eternal life of Christ. When we trust Jesus as our Savior, the Holy Spirit baptizes us into the family of God. We are given eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord and Savior, and God is on our side because of what Christ did for us on the Cross. For we are brought into the family of God, the body of Christ, by our faith in Jesus Christ. And we are in Christ. And we are no longer condemned because we are in Christ. We have eternal life in our Lord Jesus Christ. And just as we are forgiven of our sins, we ought to find it in our hearts to forgive others when they ask for forgiveness. Just as Abigail asked of David, and just as David had mercy on her.
God Bless and have a great day in God’s Word.
