Revelation 4:1 (NKJV) After these things I looked, and behold, a door standing open in heaven. And the first voice which I heard was like a trumpet speaking with me, saying, “Come up here, and I will show you things which must take place after this.”
The Apostle John heard a voice from heaven, and saw a door open in heaven. This ought to be of interest to all who call on the name of Jesus Christ for salvation. Heaven is real. It ought to get us excited. John saw a door standing open in heaven. In Revelation 3:8 (NKJV), the Lord Jesus Christ said to the church in Philadelphia, “I know your works. See, I have set before you an open door, and no one can shut it; for you have a little strength, have kept My word, and have not denied My name.” This is a door of opportunity to share the Word of God. In Revelation 3:20 (NKJV), the Lord Jesus Christ said “Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me.” This is a door of invitation and identification with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Jesus stands at the door to our hearts and knocks. He does not pound on the door, and He does not break it down. Rather, He patiently and gently knocks on the door to our hearts. Waiting for us to open it and invite Him in. Here in Revelation 4:1 (NKJV), the Lord Jesus Christ says “Come up here.” Jesus is the door, the way that is, to God. And in Revelation 19:11 (NKJV), John says “Now I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse. And He who sat on him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He judges and makes war.” This is the door through which the Lord Jesus Christ will come at His second coming. Jesus will put down all unrighteousness against God, and He will establish His Kingdom on earth. This door will be opened at the second coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. But for now, the doorway to heaven is opened. It has been opened since Jesus ascended to heaven after His resurrection. After His finished work of reconciliation and redemption. Through Christ Jesus we have salvation. The Lord Jesus Christ is the door through which believers can come to God. For Jesus said “I am the door. If anyone enters by Me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture” (John 10:9 NKJV). And in John 14:6 (NKJV), “Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” The open door to heaven is our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. There is no other way. And He will come to the door of our hearts. This is the wonder and glory of it all. We enter in Christ by faith, and Christ enters into our hearts by faith. In 1 John 1:3, John is saying, he knows this to be true. He saw the open door to heaven, and he went through it. And there in heaven he had fellowship with the Lord Jesus Christ. John is letting us know that we can have fellowship with Jesus, and one of these days we are going up through that open door in heaven.
God Bless and have a great day in God’s Word.
