Psalm 18:28-31 (NKJV) For You will light my lamp; The Lord my God will enlighten my darkness. 29 For by You I can run against a troop, By my God I can leap over a wall. 30 As for God, His way is perfect; The word of the Lord is proven; He is a shield to all who trust in Him. 31 For who is God, except the Lord? And who is a rock, except our God?

In verses 20 through 30 of Psalm 18, David speaks of his confidence in the Lord for the things that He has done for him. But David is also speaking prophetically through the inspiration of the Holy Spirit of God about Jesus Christ, the Messiah, who would be both his Son and his Lord (see Matthew 22:41–46). By the Holy Spirit, God the Father guided His Son Jesus Christ during His time on earth in His first coming. God enlighten His Son’s path to the Cross, which otherwise would be dark. That is why to Jesus it was the joy that was set before Him. It was His Father’s will. It was the reason He stepped down from heaven to be born in a manger. It was the reason for His incarnation. It was His Father’s plan of salvation which He had made before the beginning of time, before He said let there be light. It was the plan of salvation that Jesus promised His Father that He would fulfill. Therefore, Jesus felt assured His Father will give Him prosperity, success, happiness and glory. Jesus kept His eye on the Father at all times, always doing His will and keeping His commandants. And Jesus’ moral glory proved that He was fully God. His Father Himself was a Light to Him. By the Spirit Jesus avoided the snares laid for Him by His enemies. By the Cross, Christ defeated all His enemies including Satan. Jesus attributed His victory over the sting of sin to His Father who kept Him upright in His Word. Which is righteous and just, and prefect in every way. It is free from deceit. All of the promises of God are trustworthy for there is no shadow in Him, and He is faithful and true. Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ was fully confident in His Father to raise Him up in glory. Likewise, God is a sure defense to all who trusts in Him. Only God can provide absolute security from all dangers, evils and enemies. The divine protection of God is our best and only defense. Trust in Him for salvation.

God Bless and have a great day in God’s Word.
