John 12:12-13 (NKJV) The next day a great multitude that had come to the feast, when they heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem, took branches of palm trees and went out to meet Him, and cried out: “Hosanna! ‘Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!’ The King of Israel!”

The Lord Jesus Christ came out of eternity into the world that was created through Him and by Him. Jesus is now entering into Jerusalem at the time before the Feast of the Passover, and the crowd is expecting Him. When Jesus was born, wise men who sought Him called Him the King of the Jews. And now, at the end of His ministry, Jesus is again called the King of the Jews. For the first time, Jesus is publicly offering Himself as their King. But of course, the religious rulers rejected Him. Jesus is no longer avoiding the question of who He is. Now Jesus confronts the people and religious leaders. They must make a choice. This is now an act which Jesus performs as a fulfillment of prophecy. Jesus has stepped out publicly and He offers Himself as their Messiah. And they must publicly make a decision. Jesus does this to fulfill prophecy. And we know what Israel did with their King. They crucified Him. But it was all in God’s plan of Salvation. For by the shed blood of His Son Jesus Christ, we are saved.

God Bless and have a great day in God’s Word.
