Zechariah 10:1 (NKJV) Ask the Lord for rain In the time of the latter rain. The Lord will make flashing clouds; He will give them showers of rain, Grass in the field for everyone.

This verse continues the description of the prosperous conditions which will prevail during the Millennial reign of the Lord Jesus Christ on the earth. God has promised Israel earthly blessings. Thus, the fall and spring rainfall is a very important part of Israel’s earthly blessings and would make that land lush with green vegetation. Today, Israel has to pump in water to grow circles of crops for the harvest. Because there is simply not enough water to irrigate the land. The land is barren because judgment has come upon the land as well as upon the people of Israel. The average monthly rainfall in Israel is 1.8 inches. Compare that to one of the greenest places in the world, Kilauea, Kauai, Hawaii which averages 6 inches of rain per month. The thing that denotes God’s judgment on Israel is the withholding of rain. One of the problems for Israel, agriculturally, is the lack of rain. How can Israel get more rain? Well, the best way would be for the people of Israel to turn to God. But they have not returned to God. They have not accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as their Messiah, and the rain has not returned. During the Millennium reign of the Lord Jesus Christ, God will pure out the rain on the land, and the land will be lush with vegetation again. There will be plenty of rain for the crops and the trees, and for the grass for the livestock to eat. The land will flourish again. And the Israelites will once again be physically blessed by God. But that is not all, because the rain mentioned here in Zechariah has a twofold meaning. For what the pouring out of rain does for the land, the pouring out of the Holy Spirit will rejuvenate the spiritual lives of God’s chosen people. There will be a pouring out of the Spirit of God during the Millennium reign of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. My friend, are you dried up spiritually? Do you need some spiritual rain in your life? Then turn to God and ask Him to bring forth the rain. And He will pour out the Holy Spirit upon you.

God Bless and have a great day in God’s Word.
