1 Corinthians 2:9 (NKJV) But as it is written: “Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, Nor have entered into the heart of man The things which God has prepared for those who love Him.”
The Apostle Paul is saying that right here and now there are certain things that we have not seen. As the saying goes, seeing is believing. Well, we get a great deal of information from what we see. We learn more about how to do things by watching someone else do it. That is why on the job training is so effective. We also learn by hearing. We learn by listening to lectures. We learn by listening to someone telling us how to do things. And the combination of seeing and hearing is how we learn most things. But Paul tells us there are certain things we simply cannot learn by seeing and hearing. Then Paul tells us, “nor have entered into the heart of man,” that is, by cogitation, thinking, or reasoning. There are certain things which cannot be attained by seeing, hearing and reasoning. We cannot discover God by searching for Him. The things which God has prepared for us who love Him are not gotten by seeing, hearing, or by reasoning. Then how are we going to know God? Paul tells us in verses 10 and 11. Paul says, “But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God. For what man knows the things of a man except the spirit of the man which is in him? Even so no one knows the things of God except the Spirit of God.” There are certain things about God that only the Holy Spirit of God can reveal to us. If we are to understand anything about God, He will have to reveal it to us by His Spirit. If we are to know God and draw closer to Him, then we need the Holy Spirit of God dwelling within us. That is how we will walk with God.
God Bless and have a great day in God’s Word.
