1 Thessalonians 4:9-12 (NKJV) But concerning brotherly love you have no need that I should write to you, for you yourselves are taught by God to love one another; and indeed you do so toward all the brethren who are in all Macedonia. But we urge you, brethren, that you increase more and more; that you also aspire to lead a quiet life, to mind your own business, and to work with your own hands, as we commanded you, that you may walk properly toward those who are outside, and that you may lack nothing.

If you say you are a child of God, then you must have love for your brothers and sisters in Christ. It is not an emotional love. It is not a physical love. It is not a theoretical love. Rather, it is an agape love. Such a love can only be produced in a child of God by the Holy Spirit of God. Agape love is an identifying mark of a child of God. And yes, many of us Christians need to grow in this area. We need to develop love for our brothers and sisters in Christ. If we are honest with ourselves, then we will admit that we are not perfect in our love for each other, and there is still room for improvement. If you want to know if you are a genuine child of God, then the real test is your love for other believers. Do you love your bothers and sisters in Christ? Love will help us to aspire to live right and humbly before God. As a child of God, we are to be content to be “little and unknown, loved and prized by Christ alone.” As a child of God, we need to mind our own business instead of putting ourselves in the center of other people’s businesses. We are not to be gossiping about other people’s businesses as well. As a child of God, we need to be self-supporting. Meaning we are not to be a moocher, sponging off others and taking advantage of their love. As a child of God, we are to walk honestly before God, our brothers and sisters in Christ, and unbelievers. Our dealings with unbelievers are to be conscientiously honest. It will gain their respect and confidence. And it will bring honor to God. These are the things that a child of God should be doing: love one another, be content, don’t put yourself in the center of other people’s businesses and don’t gossip about them, be self-supporting, and walk honestly before God and man. Remember, my friend, people are watching us. And they will judge our Lord and Savior by the way we live our lives.

God Bless and have a great day in God’s Word.
