Song of Solomon 8:6-7 (NKJV) 6 Set me as a seal upon your heart, As a seal upon your arm; For love is as strong as death, Jealousy as cruel as the grave; Its flames are flames of fire, A most vehement flame. 7 Many waters cannot quench love, Nor can the floods drown it. If a man would give for love All the wealth of his house, It would be utterly despised.
Death was the price our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ paid to show His love for lost sinners like me and like you. The penalty for sin is death, and Jesus who knew no sin, took upon Himself the sins of the world. And He paid the penalty for it in full with His death on the cross. Death did not deter Him. The shame of the cross did not deter Him. It was the joy that was set before Him before the beginning of time. Before creation, Jesus loved us. And He gave Himself for us. He endured the cross and despised the shame unto the death that we might live. And Jesus rose from the grave on the third day in fulfillment of the Scriptures. Jesus is not dead, He is alive. And “I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Romans 8:38–39 NKJV). This confidence in the love of Christ, ought to produce in us a passionate, enthusiastic and jealous love for Him. Therefore, with tenderness of heart and with bold confidence we strive to live a life that brings honor and glory to Jesus Christ our Lord, by submitting ourselves to the transforming power of the Holy Spirit and submitting our will to God’s will. Our love for Christ should burn passionately in our hearts. And it should be fueled by the power of the Holy Spirit, causing our love for Christ to burn even more mightily within us. So that nothing will be able to quench our love for Jesus. For even our repeated failures and our floods of sins will not quench Christ’s love for us. Because God is not asking for our service or our money; God is asking for our love. God wants a personal relationship with you. But you have to come to God on His terms which is given to us in John 3:16-17: “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.”
God Bless and have a great day in God’s Word.
