Mark 13:31-32 (NKJV) 31 Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away. No One Knows the Day or Hour 32 “But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.

Here we have a difficult verse to fully understand. We know that there is one God; God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. One God in three distinct personas. The Trinity as it is known. In the very first verse of the Bible, in Genesis 1:1 (NKJV) the Hebrew word for God is Elohim. It is a plural word. It refers to more than two. The Trinity is difficult to understand. Our finite minds cannot fully grasp the concept. We come up with many examples, but they all fall short. And here in this verse we see why. For we know that Jesus is God, the second person of the Trinity, so it is difficult to account for this lack of omniscience. Why doesn’t the Son know? “But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.” One explanation may be found in Philippians 2:5-7 (NKJV). The Apostle Paul says of our Lord Jesus Christ, “Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men.” Jesus took upon Himself the role of a servant. And a servant as Jesus explains in John 15:15 (NKJV), “a servant does not know what his master is doing.” The bondservant character of our Lord Jesus Christ represents His most true humanity. Our Lord Jesus Christ was fully man and yet He is fully God. When Jesus, God the Son, became man, He limited Himself in order to be made just like us. Jesus was not omnipresent when He clothed Himself in human flesh. And as such, it is reasonable to assume that Jesus also limited Himself relative to His omniscience, so that He does not no the Day or the Hour of His return, but only the Father. It is absolutely certain that our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ will return, just as every one of His predictions have come true. And those that remain will absolutely come true. For God’s Word is absolute truth. And truth, my friend, is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow. Truth never passes away.

God Bless and have a great day in God’s Word.
