1 Timothy 4:7-9 (NKJV) 7 But reject profane and old wives’ fables, and exercise yourself toward godliness. 8 For bodily exercise profits a little, but godliness is profitable for all things, having promise of the life that now is and of that which is to come. 9 This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptance.
Christ is Truth. What is not of the truth, we ought to have nothing to do with it. We are not to bother with them. For they are unworthy of our consideration or respect. We are to treat them with contempt. Instead of wasting our time on things that are false, we should spend more time in the Truth and exercising our godly character. Just as physical exercise is good for the body. Spiritual exercise is good for godliness. We are to practice godliness in our lives. In order to do this, we must get into some spiritual exercise, so to speak. We do this reading and studying the Bible, praying, and meditating on God’s Word. We can’t just wake up one day and find ourselves to be like Christ. It takes effort, dedication and a whole lot of faith. We have to submit ourselves to the transforming power of the Holy Spirit of God. We have to trust in God. And we have to believe in Christ. Yes, there are many health benefits associated with physical exercise. But we ought to put things in their proper order of importance. Physical exercise is only good for this life. “But godliness is profitable for all things” here in this life and in eternity. The physical ends at the end of this life. Put things in the right perspective, for godliness is carried over into eternity. “This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptance.” My friend, you can count on the truth of God’s Word.
God Bless and have a great day in God’s Word.
