John 4:13-14 (NKJV) 13 Jesus answered and said to her, “Whoever drinks of this water will thirst again, 14 but whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst. But the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life.”

Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ makes it perfectly clear that He is not talking about water in Jacob’s well. Rather, Jesus is making a contrast between the well water and the living water. Jesus explains “Whoever drinks of this water will thirst again.” Surely, we all can understand our thirst can be momentarily satisfied, but we will need to drink again to quench our recurring need for water. Today the people of this world are going to the wells of this world, so to speak, seeking spiritual satisfaction. But the things of this world cannot completely satisfy one’s spiritual need. Because the temporal cannot satisfy the eternal need of man. God has made man in His own image, and our hearts will be forever be thirsty till we rest in God. Jesus has created in us a heart desire for spiritual water. The water which Jesus gives truly satisfies our spiritual thirst. For only the One and True Living God can fill the god shape void in our hearts. When we come to Christ and drink of the living water, we will never thirst again. Rather, the water that Jesus gives us becomes in us “a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life.”

God Bless and have a great day in God’s Word.
