Deuteronomy 6:6-7 (NKJV) 6 “And these words which I command you today shall be in your heart. 7 You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up.
God holds parents responsible to bring up their children in His discipline and instruction. All throughout the Scriptures there is a great deal said about the responsibilities of parents. In Proverbs 22:6 (NKJV) for instance it says: “Train up a child in the way he should go, And when he is old he will not depart from it.” God does not tell us to train our children the way we want them to go. God has a way for our children to go, and we as parents are to cooperate with God by staying close to Him so that we will know what is the will of God, that is His discipline and instruction. We ought to keep God’s Word before our children at all times. Does this mean that we post God’s Word on every wall in our homes? If that what it takes. But a better approach would be to keep God’s Word dear in our hearts so that God’s Word has an influence on our lives. And in-turn, God’s Word will have an influence on our children’s lives. Because children imitate their parents. And by-the-way, we as God’s children ought to be imitating Him. We can do this when we have God’s Word written on our hearts. When God’s Word is richly kept in our hearts, then the Holy Spirit of God can use God’s Word to transform our lives. Our lives ought to exhibit God’s Word, so that our children can see God’s Word in action. God wants His Word to be taught to His people just like that, by example. Therefore, let your children see you give thanks to God. Don’t forget to give thanks to the One who blesses you.
God Bless and have a great day in God’s Word.
