Proverbs 27:23-27 (NKJV) 23 Be diligent to know the state of your flocks, And attend to your herds; 24 For riches are not forever, Nor does a crown endure to all generations. 25 When the hay is removed, and the tender grass shows itself, And the herbs of the mountains are gathered in, 26 The lambs will provide your clothing, And the goats the price of a field; 27 You shall have enough goats’ milk for your food, For the food of your household, And the nourishment of your maidservants.

Here in Proverbs 27, the virtues of agricultural life are being praised. But the rewards are greatly tied to the farmer’s diligence. It takes a lot of long hours and hard work to tend to the crops and to the herds. At the end of each harvest and round-up the farmer can collect his rewards. But he can’t stop there. He must continue on working, preparing for the next season. And then continue to work through it. For the riches of one season does not last forever. We ought to learn from this, in that we cannot stop working for Christ after one soul is won. We can’t simply stop there and say I’ve done enough; I’ve done my share. We can’t be satisfied to tell of the same victory for Christ, over and over again, even after it is years old. Nor can we claim the victories of others as our own. We ought to be able to share new personal victories for Christ. Sharing the gospel of Christ, the message of salvation, is our life long mission here one earth. And each of us has a personal task given to us by God to share the message of salvation. We are ambassadors for Christ. And we can depend on God to help us complete the tasks that He ordained us to do. So, my friend, be diligent at your task, just as the farmer is diligent. Be obedient in doing God’s will. Go out and sow the seeds of the gospels, the truth of God’s Word, and take satisfaction in seeing the Holy Spirit of God nourish the Word of God in the lives of people who have accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as their Savior. God will reward you in heaven for your faith filled service and humble obedience.

God Bless and have a great day in God’s Word.
