Genesis 15:1-4 (NKJV) After these things the word of the Lord came to Abram in a vision, saying, “Do not be afraid, Abram. I am your shield, your exceedingly great reward.” 2 But Abram said, “Lord God, what will You give me, seeing I go childless, and the heir of my house is Eliezer of Damascus?” 3 Then Abram said, “Look, You have given me no offspring; indeed one born in my house is my heir!” 4 And behold, the word of the Lord came to him, saying, “This one shall not be your heir, but one who will come from your own body shall be your heir.”
This is God’s Covenant with Abram, “This one shall not be your heir, but one who will come from your own body shall be your heir.” This is now the fourth time that God has spoke to Abram. God is developing his faith. God is bringing him to the point where he will be the father of faith. God will give him a new name, because of his faith. And that is why, “By faith Abraham obeyed when he was called to go out to the place which he would receive as an inheritance. And he went out, not knowing where he was going” (Hebrews 11:8 NKJV). It is wonderful to know that God does this with all of us who call on the name of Jesus. God develops our faith. God said to Abram, “Do not be afraid, Abram. I am your shield, your exceedingly great reward.” God protected Abram. And in the same manner, God protects all of His children. And God rewards our faithfulness. God can do marvelous things with anyone who is willing to just simply believe and look to Him. Now see, that this does not mean, we can’t ask God questions. God wants us to be honest with Him. God assures of His promises when we are honest with Him. God will take us by the hand and lead us in the direction we should go.
God Bless and have a great day in God’s Word.
