Genesis 18:1, 10-12 (NKJV) Then the Lord appeared to him by the terebinth trees of Mamre, as he was sitting in the tent door in the heat of the day. 10 And He said, “I will certainly return to you according to the time of life, and behold, Sarah your wife shall have a son.” (Sarah was listening in the tent door which was behind him.) 11 Now Abraham and Sarah were old, well advanced in age; and Sarah had passed the age of childbearing. 12 Therefore Sarah laughed within herself, saying, “After I have grown old, shall I have pleasure, my lord being old also?”

Now remember God had promised Abram that from him will grow a nation of God’s chosen people. But up to now Abraham had no children of his own. Both he and Sarah are very old. How could they have children. However, God reaffirms His promise to Abraham. “And He said, “I will certainly return to you according to the time of life, and behold, Sarah your wife shall have a son.”” But Sarah thought that this was too good to be true. How can it be that she and her husband have a child at their age? It just can’t happen, and so she simply laughed at the thought that it could happen. Have you ever experienced God’s blessing that was just too good to be true? Did you laugh at God’s promise at first? And when God kept His promise, were you surprised? I think many of us have been in that situation. Because we see God’s promise from our view point. Meaning, we think how can we possibly make it come true. It is beyond our abilities. We lose sight of who made the promise. It was God. And with God, nothing is impossible. Just as the promise that is given in John 3:16. It matters who is making the promise. It is God. “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life” (John 3:16 NKJV). Simply believe in God who makes the promise to you.

God Bless and have a great day in God’s Word.
