Philippians 3:20 (NKJV) For our citizenship is in heaven, from which we also eagerly wait for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ,
Our citizenship is in heaven, meaning we are given a new nature in Christ Jesus when we are born again. “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new” (2 Corinthians 5:17 NKJV). This being a true statement, we therefore ought to act as a citizen of heaven. That is, we ought to act as a child of God. We are to desire the things of God rather then the things of this world. We are to represent Christ and His message of salvation, because we are ambassadors of Christ who is seated at the right hand of the Father in heaven. “From which we also eagerly wait for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ.” Friends, we are to be productive citizens of heaven here upon this earth while we joyfully wait in anticipation of Jesus’ return. Our wonderful Hope is the return of our Savior Jesus Christ who will call us up to heaven before the Tribulation. “For God did not appoint us to wrath, but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ, who died for us, that whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with Him” (1 Thessalonians 5:9-10 NKJV). Jesus will return for His church, His bride, all who belong to Him and take us out of this world before the Tribulation. For God has said, “Because you have kept My command to persevere, I also will keep you from the hour of trial which shall come upon the whole world, to test those who dwell on the earth” (Revelation 3:10 NKJV). The Rapture of the church is next on God’s agenda. However, no one knows the day or the hour of Christ’s return. Therefore, we need to be productive Christians while we joyfully wait with anticipation for the glorious return of our Savior Jesus Christ. We ought to be doing all that we can to get the Word out, the message of salvation, the gospel of Jesus Christ. We ought to be living our lives for Christ because He could return at any time now. Just as the Apostle John says, “And now, little children, abide in Him, that when He appears, we may have confidence and not be ashamed before Him at His coming” (1 John 2:28 NKJV).
God Bless and have a great day in God’s Word.
