1 Peter 1:22 (NKJV) Since you have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit in sincere love of the brethren, love one another fervently with a pure heart,
A pure heart is the result of our rebirth in Christ Jesus our Lord and Savior. Our hearts are cleansed daily by the Holy Spirit of God with the Word of God so that we may not sin against God. “For we ourselves were also once foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving various lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful and hating one another. But when the kindness and the love of God our Savior toward man appeared, not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit, whom He poured out on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Savior, that having been justified by His grace we should become heirs according to the hope of eternal life” ( Titus 3:3-7 NKJV). Our desire to want to please and obey God comes from our new nature in Christ Jesus. And the evidence of our obedience to God is a sincere and fervent love for our brothers and sisters in Christ. “If someone says, “I love God,” and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen, how can he love God whom he has not seen? And this commandment we have from Him: that he who loves God must love his brother also” (1 John 4:20-21 NKJV). For “We know that we have passed from death to life, because we love the brethren. He who does not love his brother abides in death” (1 John 3:14 NKJV). My friends, we demonstrate our love for God by loving one another sincerely and fervently with a pure heart. This is then the fruit of our salvation through the mercy and grace of God. “And we have known and believed the love that God has for us. God is love, and he who abides in love abides in God, and God in him” (1 John 4:16 NKJV). My friends, “We love Him because He first loved us” (1 John 4:19 NKJV). “For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast. For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them” (Ephesians 2:8-10 NKJV). This is true faith my friends, it is a gift from God. You see my friend; salvation is all about God. God came up with His plan of salvation before creation. God set His plan of salvation into action when God the Son, the Second Person of the Trinity, the Triune Godhead, Elohim, stepped down from heaven and clothed Himself in humanity. God fulfilled His plan of salvation through the death and resurrection of His Son Jesus Christ. And God gives us the ability to believe in what Christ has done for us on the cross on Calvary over 2000 years ago. Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me” (John 14:6 NKJV). And before Jesus went to the cross, He said, “A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another. By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another” (John 13:34-35 NKJV). This is, my friend, in a very real sense, the evidence that we are truly saved.
God Bless and have a great day in God’s Word.
