Psalm 131:2-3 (NKJV) 2 Surely I have calmed and quieted my soul, Like a weaned child with his mother; Like a weaned child is my soul within me. 3 O Israel, hope in the Lord From this time forth and forever.
Such is a humble, broken and contrite spirit. For humility gives birth to all virtues. These verses like so many other Scriptures teaches of the value of true humility. Scriptures like Psalm 138:6 (NKJV) which says “Though the Lord is on high, Yet He regards the lowly; But the proud He knows from afar.” And like Isaiah 57:15 (NKJV) which says “For thus says the High and Lofty One Who inhabits eternity, whose name is Holy: “I dwell in the high and holy place, With him who has a contrite and humble spirit, To revive the spirit of the humble, And to revive the heart of the contrite ones.”” And 1 Peter 5:5 (NKJV) which says “Likewise you younger people, submit yourselves to your elders. Yes, all of you be submissive to one another, and be clothed with humility, for “God resists the proud, But gives grace to the humble.”” And finally, but not the last of it, James 4:10 (NKJV) which says “Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and He will lift you up.” My friends, we are freed from discontentment, ambitiousness and self-seeking or any form of selfishness when we are abiding in Christ, finding rest and contentment in our Savior.
God Bless and have a great day in God’s Word.
