Romans 15:18-19 (NKJV) 18 For I will not dare to speak of any of those things which Christ has not accomplished through me, in word and deed, to make the Gentiles obedient— 19 in mighty signs and wonders, by the power of the Spirit of God, so that from Jerusalem and round about to Illyricum I have fully preached the gospel of Christ.
The Apostle Paul is saying something very important. We who are in the ministry must pay close attention to what Paul is saying. Paul says, in not so many words, “I won’t take credit for the things that Christ has done through others.” Paul dare not say “God used me to build the church in Rome.” Because Paul new God used other people to establish the church in Rome. Oh, but it is shameful, how we like to take credit for things that we did not do. The body of Christ can work much more smoothly and be more productive, when we recognize the work of other brothers and sisters in Christ and support them in it. Instead of tearing them down. The apostles’ credentials, so to speak, were signs and wonders. One significant credential that we have today is integrity. We are instruments of God that He uses to lay down the foundation in the local churches. And the foundation and chief corner stone is our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ himself. God uses us to share the gospel of Christ to all who would listen and believe. And it is not right for us to take the credit for what God has done through us. Because it is Christ who does the adding to His church. Be humble, my friend, in your service to God.
God Bless and have a great day in God’s Word.
