John 12:12-13 (NKJV) 12 The next day a great multitude that had come to the feast, when they heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem, 13 took branches of palm trees and went out to meet Him, and cried out: “Hosanna! ‘Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!’ The King of Israel!”

This is a description of the Triumphal Entry of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Jesus came to Jerusalem for the Passover feast. It was the Sunday before His crucifixion. The multitude who cried out, “Hosanna!” meaning “Save us now!” did not really understand Jesus’ purpose. They looked upon Jesus as a King who would deliver them from the Romans. That was their motivation for declaring Jesus the King of the Jews. They placed palm branches on the ground before Jesus. It was a symbol of rest and peace after sorrow, the sorrow of their many years of Roman oppression. And they looked to Jesus to set them free. The people had a different idea of the salvation that God was about to give to them. In fact, they choose Barabbas over Jesus. Because Barabbas would fight against the Romans. Today, there many people who have a different idea of who Jesus really is, much like those who cheered for Jesus on the day of His Triumphal Entry. They have no real interest in who Jesus is. They simply want to use Jesus for their own gain. Be careful my friends of false preachers and teachers. For if you say to yourself, “We are seeing prophecy being fulfilled, these are the end times!” Then take heed of what Jesus has said: “Take heed that no one deceives you. For many will come in My name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and will deceive many. And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not troubled; for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in various places. All these are the beginning of sorrows” (Matthew 24:4-8 NKJV). Rather or not you believe that these are the end times. There is one thing that is for certain, “Take heed that no man deceives you.”

God Bless and have a great day in God’s Word.
