1 John 4:12-16 (NKJV) 12 No one has seen God at any time. If we love one another, God abides in us, and His love has been perfected in us. 13 By this we know that we abide in Him, and He in us, because He has given us of His Spirit. 14 And we have seen and testify that the Father has sent the Son as Savior of the world. 15 Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him, and he in God. 16 And we have known and believed the love that God has for us. God is love, and he who abides in love abides in God, and God in him.
Seeing God through love is the subtitle of these verses. This portion of Scripture starts of by declaring no man has seen God in all of His fullness. Those who saw God in the Old Testament saw a visible manifestation of God, a theophany. But God did not reveal Himself in all of His fullness to them. “No one has seen God at any time.” This is still true today. But the point is this, God can manifest Himself through our love for one another. The only way for unbelievers to know of God’s love is through the lives of believers who loves their brothers and sisters in Christ as Christ loves all who believes in Him. And that is the challenge for us my friends, for the only way we are going to express agape love is by submitting ourselves to the Holy Spirit who is able to make God’s love real to us. And the challenge is for us to submit ourselves to the Holy Spirit all of the time. Underscore, “all of the time.” It seems like an impossible task, but if we conduct ourselves in the light of the fact that we are joined with Christ all of the time, then we will conduct ourselves honorably and humbly. For when we abide in Christ and He in us, then we can feel the heart beet of God. And God’s love can be manifested in us as we share the truth of God’s Word. The world has not seen enough of God’s love. And yet they are supposed to see God’s love in our lives. “By this we know that we abide in Him, and He in us, because He has given us of His Spirit.” My friends, is God’s love being perfected in our lives? For there is a great need for unbelievers to be able to see God’s love. For this is the gospel message, God’s love was demonstrated for us on the cross where Christ died for us. The message of salvation, redemption and reconciliation starts with God’s love. “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life” (John 3:16 NKJV). There is also a great need for believers to see God’s love as well. For God’s children needs love. And this is how we know we are true followers of Christ, if we love one another. “And we have known and believed the love that God has for us. God is love, and he who abides in love abides in God, and God in him.”
God Bless and have a great day in God’s Word.
