Psalm 49:1-4 (NKJV) Hear this, all peoples; Give ear, all inhabitants of the world, 2 Both low and high, Rich and poor together. 3 My mouth shall speak wisdom, And the meditation of my heart shall give understanding. 4 I will incline my ear to a proverb; I will disclose my dark saying on the harp.
This psalm is written about the confidence of the foolish. It is a call to everyone to listen to God. The psalmist tells us that God can speak to us through psalms and parables. And His message is filled with wisdom that comes from His heart. God speaks to us through His Word, the Bible is God’s very spoken Word to us. The Bible is our Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth, as the common acronym goes. The Bible contains the message of salvation, most importantly. For example, John 3:16 (NKJV) says, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” The Bible also contains instructions on how to live for Christ. For example, 2 Peter 1:3 (NKJV) says, “as His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue.” You may say, what does these verses mean? How are these verses instructing us? Well, first of all John 3:16 tells us that God is the one who reconciles the lost sinner onto Himself. God the Father sacrificed His Son Jesus Christ for the payment of our sins. Since Jesus bore our sins, meaning He paid the penalty for our sins, the Holy Spirit of God can regenerate us, meaning He makes us a new creation in Christ. At the moment we believe we are born again. God the Father can extend grace to all who will simply believe in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. Jesus is the only way to God the Father. The motivation for God’s plan of salvation is His love. But understand that our sins are not forgiven because God loves us. Our sins are forgiven because Jesus Christ, God the Son, paid the penalty for our sins. Because of what Jesus did for us on the cross, God the Father can save us by grace. “For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast” (Ephesians 2:8-9 NKJV). My friend, you must believe that Jesus the Son of God died for you. That is the message of John 3:16. And 2 Peter 1:3 tells us that we can live a life for Christ because of His divine power. God has given us the ability, the strength, the will, and the power to live for Him through His Son Jesus Christ. Christ within us, Christ living in us, Christ joined with us, gives us the ability to live the Christian life. It is through the knowledge of Christ that we can be more like Christ and live for Him. How do we get to know Christ more? You got it. We get to know Christ more by reading, studying and applying God’s Word to our lives. As we get to know Christ more, we are encouraged to excel in godliness, to be more like Christ. And while becoming more like Christ, we live the Christian life. We live for Christ, because Christ lives in us. These are just two examples of how God speaks to us through His Word, the Bible. God’s Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth.
God Bless and have a great day in God’s Word.
