Colossians 3:17 (NKJV) And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.
Here is a norm, or a standard, for Christian conduct. It is a simple principle, a fundamental truth that is the foundation for Christian conduct. It is easy to remember, and it is easy to follow. Because it is not a long list of do’s and don’ts. The Apostle Paul simply says, “Do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.” In all that you do, do it in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. “Therefore, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God” (1 Corinthians 10:31 NKJV). This is the simple test that we, as believers, can apply to our lives. Not checking to see if it is on the list of do’s or don’ts. The simple test is: “can I do this for the glory of God?” This is a simple standard for Christian living. Whatever we do should be done for the glory of God. It is that simple. That is why it is a marvelous standard. We can easily use it to keep us on the straight and narrow path towards heaven. How might we do all things for the glory of God? Simply by doing this: “Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom…” (Colossians 3:16 NKJV). If we want to do all things for the glory of God, then we need to study the Word of God. We need to read it, study it, understand it, and keep it in the sanctuary of our hearts. For when the Word of God is at home in our hearts, then we will know what will glorify God. Because we will be familiar with the Word of God. And it will have a marvelous influence in our lives. My friend, when the Word of God dwells in you richly, it will have an effect on your life.
God Bless and have a great day in God’s Word.
