1 Chronicles 4:14 (NKJV) and Meonothai who begot Ophrah. Seraiah begot Joab the father of Ge Harashim for they were craftsmen.

The history of Israel is traced from their captivity in Babylon all the way back to Adam and Eve in Frist and Second Chronicles with emphasis on the tribes of Judah and Levi. Because only descendants of Levi could serve in the Levitical Priesthood. And it was foretold that the Messiah will come from the tribe of Judah. The Messiah will be the Lion of the tribe of Judah. Therefore, the Davidic Covenant gave the people who were returning to Israel from captivity in Babylon hope. By tracing their genealogies back to Adam and Eve, the people were reminded of how God had helped them in every generation. Their genealogies showed them that God is powerful and faithful, and is their Deliverer. They could rely on God for protection and strength. God has provided for them and sustained them in the past. And He will deliver them now and in the future. The genealogy of one descendant of Judah is of most importance. The genealogy of David is important in tracing the lineage of the Messiah. Because the Scriptures made it very clear that the Messiah would be born from the house of David. So, records of family trees were vital, and the people of Israel kept meticulous records of their genealogies. Therefore, the gospel of Matthew begins with the genealogy of Jesus Christ following the line of Joseph through David’s son Solomon. And in the gospel of Luke, beginning in chapter 3 and verse 23, the genealogy of Jesus Christ is traced from the lineage of Mary through David’s son Nathan. The genealogy of Jesus Christ, through Mary’s or Joseph’s lineage, shows that Jesus is a descendant of David. Jesus is the Messiah, the Lion of the tribe of Judah. And the scepter would never leave His hand. The Lord Jesus Christ is our Hope of Salvation, my friend, will you accept Him as your Savior today?

God Bless and have a great day in God’s Word.
