Acts 17:24-25 (NKJV) 24 God, who made the world and everything in it, since He is Lord of heaven and earth, does not dwell in temples made with hands. 25 Nor is He worshiped with men’s hands, as though He needed anything, since He gives to all life, breath, and all things.

The people of Israel admired the Temple that Solomon had built. They took pride in the fact that they built it for God. Many of us do the same today. When we see a large and grand house of worship, we admire it and say “that is a beautiful church” and we think to ourselves that God must surely like it there. Paul says that this way of thinking is wrong. Because God is not confined to a building. Nor is He confined to one geographical land area. When Solomon dedicated the temple to God, Solomon said: “But will God indeed dwell on the earth? Behold, heaven and the heaven of heavens cannot contain You. How much less this temple which I have built!” (1 Kings 8:27 NKJV). My friend, the church building is simply a place for believers to come and worship God. It serves as a place, but not the only place, where believers can approach God together. Why is it not the only place? It is because God is omnipresent. He is everywhere. We can worship God everywhere. He is not confined to a building. People often refer to the building where they attend church as God’s house. But in reality, God the Creator of the heavens and the earth does not live in a building made by man. And the second thing that Paul addresses is the idea that God needs us. The people of Israel took great pride in the fact that they brought offerings to God. Much is the same today. We give our offerings to God and we want other people to know that we are giving our offerings to God. Some people would even want others to know exactly how much they give to God, and they say without me the church could not go on. But Paul says, in not so many words, “God does not need a single thing from us.” My friends, God is on the giving end. And you can’t out give God. For God gives life. God is the One who gives you breath. God is the Creator, and He is the One who gives you all things. And above all, God is the One who gives you salvation, the greatest gift of all, through the shed blood of His only begotten Son Jesus Christ.

God Bless and have a great day in God’s Word.
