Psalm 121:1-2 (NKJV) I will lift up my eyes to the hills—From whence comes my help? 2 My help comes from the Lord, Who made heaven and earth.

You probably heard the old saying, “God helps those who help themselves.” But in reality, “God is the Help of those who seek Him.” Turning to your inner self for help, would be like looking for help in the mountain tops. As believers we are to look to God for help. Where else would we find help? Our help comes from God. The psalmist gives us a picture of what is seen when you travel to Jerusalem by means of a vehicle. No matter what road you take into Jerusalem, you will travel through the hills. And as you look up on the hill tops, you will see places of worship of false gods. These are the places where sinful and rebellious men erected their altars to their false gods. The psalmist is saying will you turn to these false gods for help? And in a broader scope, what about drugs and alcohol? Will you take the law into your own hands? Help does not come from false gods such as these as well. God is the Help of those who seek Him. My friend, “Truly, in vain is salvation hoped for from the hills, And from the multitude of mountains; Truly, in the Lord our God Is the salvation of Israel” (Jeremiah 3:23 NKJV). What are you going through? Whatever it may be, my friend, look to God for help.

God Bless and have a great day in God’s Word.
