Ephesians 4:31-32 (NKJV) 31 Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, and evil speaking be put away from you, with all malice. 32 And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you.

The emotional responses to being hurt or wronged by other believers are found in verse 31. But God would rather have us have the emotional responses that are found in verse 32. Why? Because the emotional responses of our old nature grieve the Holy Spirit. Bitterness would have us say harsh words. Wrath and anger would fill our hearts with hate. Clamor would puff up our pride and demand people pay more attention to us. Evil speaking will lead us to blasphemy, slander and malice. We have a new nature in Christ Jesus. And we have to make a decision to put away our old nature if we are not to grieve the Holy Spirit, that is if we are not to sin. My friends, we have to make the decision not to sin. We are to make a radical change and put on our new nature in Christ. We are to be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave us. We are to love one another just as Christ loves us. My friends, the Lord Jesus Christ is the basis, the foundation, the motivation, for our relationship with our brothers and sisters in Christ.

God Bless and have a great day in God’s Word.
