1 Peter 5:4 (NKJV) and when the Chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the crown of glory that does not fade away.
We all have a ministry in which we serve the Chief Shepherd, the Lord Jesus Christ, to whom we are answerable. And Jesus Himself will reward our service with rewards which are eternal. We are working for Christ, and He will reward us some day. There are many crowns mentioned in the Bible. There is the Victor’s Crown, or the Imperishable Crown, which is awarded to those who are diligent in the study of God’s Word and prayer (1 Corinthians 9:25-27). There is the Crown of Rejoicing which is awarded to those who help lead others to the Lord Jesus Christ (1 Thessalonians 2:19). There is the Crown of Righteousness which is awarded to those who long for and look for Christ’s return (2 Timothy 4:8). There is the Crown of Life which is awarded to those who endure and triumph over trials, temptation, and persecution, event to the point of death (James 1:12, Revelation 2:10). And there is the Crown of Glory which is awarded to the faithful shepherds, Christian leaders, of the flock (1 Peter 5:4). We will one day when Christ returns share in His glory. That is one day, we will be in His wonderful presence. Peter calls it the crown of glory. One day we will be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the Chief Shepherd. Jesus is our Good Shepherd for He gave His life for His sheep. Jesus is the Great Shepherd who watches over His sheep. And Jesus is the Chief Shepherd who will one day return for His sheep. And we are members of that flock, my friends, because Jesus paid the penalty for our sins on the cross at Calvary.
God Bless and have a great day in God’s Word.
