Psalm 19:7-8 (NKJV) 7 The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul; The testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple; 8 The statutes of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart; The commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes;
God’s commandments are perfect. This is the reason why the Law cannot save us; because the Law is perfect and we are not. Sinful man cannot measure up to God’s perfect Law. Then, did God give Moses the Ten Commandments so that we could fail? Absolutely not. Why? Because man was already in a failed state. Man was already a sinner. Paul writes: “Therefore the law is holy, and the commandment holy and just and good. Has then what is good become death to me? Certainly not! But sin, that it might appear sin, was producing death in me through what is good, so that sin through the commandment might become exceedingly sinful. For we know that the law is spiritual, but I am carnal, sold under sin” (Romans 7:12-14 NKJV). The Law is perfect and we are imperfect sinners. God has given us the Law to show us that we are sinners. This is what the Law testifies. And the testimony of the LORD is sure. God is going to punish sin. The commandments reveal that judgment is coming. For the statutes of the LORD are right. And it is justly applied to everyone. Yes, “The commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes.” My friends, our eyes are opened to the fact that we need a Savior.
God Bless and have a great day in Gods’ Word.
