John 1:29 (NKJV) The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, “Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!

John points Jesus out as not only the Messiah, the expected king of the Davidic line who would deliver Israel from bondage and restore Israel to its former glory. Jesus is more than that. Yes, Jesus will free Israel from bondage and restore her to glory. But that will be done in His second coming. John tells us the reason for Jesus’ first coming. John said, “Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!” “And John bore witness, saying, “I saw the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove, and He remained upon Him. I did not know Him, but He who sent me to baptize with water said to me, ‘Upon whom you see the Spirit descending, and remaining on Him, this is He who baptizes with the Holy Spirit.’ And I have seen and testified that this is the Son of God”” (John 1:32-34 NKJV). Jesus is the almighty Savior because He is God the Son. Anyone can come to Jesus at any time and be freed from his or her sins. “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life” (John 3:16 NKJV). Why? Because Jesus is the substitutional sacrificial “Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!” Jesus is the fulfilment of the answer that Abraham gave to his son Isaac many years ago before Jesus stepped down from heaven. Abraham said, “My son, God will provide for Himself the lamb for a burnt offering” (Genesis 22:8 NKJV). And now John tells us that Jesus is “The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!”

God Bless and have a great day in God’s Word.
