Luke 2:3-7 (NKJV) 3 So all went to be registered, everyone to his own city. 4 Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judea, to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and lineage of David, 5 to be registered with Mary, his betrothed wife, who was with child. 6 So it was, that while they were there, the days were completed for her to be delivered. 7 And she brought forth her firstborn Son, and wrapped Him in swaddling cloths, and laid Him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.

Joseph and Mary traveled from Nazareth in Galilee to Bethlehem in Judea. Joseph and Mary did this because they were of the house and lineage of David. God used Caesar Augustus’ tax collection to bring Joseph and Mary to Bethlehem. Otherwise, they would not had made the travel because Mary was just about to give birth. She was carrying in her womb the Son of God. And according to the prophecies, the Messiah would be born in Bethlehem. This is simply wonderful. My friends, can you look back at your life and see how God used ordinary circumstances, that may have been inconvenient, to bring about His will in your life? This is just wonderful. Caesar wanted people to pay homage to him. But all these years later, no one gives taxes to Caesar. But that little baby in Mary’s womb, He is worshiped by many who call Him Savior. Caesar was not aware of it, but he was merely the tool in God’s hand to bring about the fulfillment of the prophecy: “But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, Though you are little among the thousands of Judah, Yet out of you shall come forth to Me The One to be Ruler in Israel, Whose goings forth are from of old, From everlasting” (Micah 5:2 NKJV). All the events that brought Joseph and Mary to Bethlehem were arranged by God. It is the same way today, many unbelievers or believers by lip service only who are in power, may think that they are getting their way. But they are simply tools in God’s hands to accomplish His will. Doctor Luke gives to us the reality of Jesus’ humanity. Luke tells us that Mary warped her new born child in swaddling clothes. The Lord Jesus Christ, God the Son, was perfectly human. The Son of God was manifested in the flesh in order for Him to save all who would believe in Him.

God Bless and have a great day in God’s Word.
