Romans 15:4 (NKJV) For whatever things were written before were written for our learning, that we through the patience and comfort of the Scriptures might have hope.
This is the reason why the Old Testament does have a practical application for believers today. The Old Testament is still meaningful to believers today. For the entirety of God’s Word is relevant to every generation of believers. It speaks of Christ and was written for “our learning.” And therefore, as believers, our greatest sin is to remain ignorant of the Word of God. We need to read God’s Word, study it, meditate on it, and apply it to our lives. “That we through the patience and comfort of the Scriptures might have hope.” These are the things that the Word of God brings to us. My friends, the only place you can find real hope is in God’s Word. There are many Christians today who are letting the gloomy events of the day fill their hearts with dismay. But the Lord our God says, “you can find patience and comfort in the Scriptures that I have written for you. There in My Word you can find hope.” The Old Testament and the entire Word of God is written for our learning and to give us patience and to give us comfort and to bring hope into our lives.
God Bless and have a great day in God’s Word.
