Psalm 42:7-9 (NKJV) 7 Deep calls unto deep at the noise of Your waterfalls; All Your waves and billows have gone over me.8 The Lord will command His lovingkindness in the daytime, And in the night His song shall be with me—A prayer to the God of my life. 9 I will say to God my Rock, “Why have You forgotten me? Why do I go mourning because of the oppression of the enemy?”
Jonah prayed the same prayer as the psalmist here in Psalm 42. Jonah cried out, “For You cast me into the deep, Into the heart of the seas, And the floods surrounded me; All Your billows and Your waves passed over me” (Jonah 2:3 NKJV). Jonah lived three days in the belly of a fish. On the third day God spoke to the fish, and the fish vomited Jonah unto the shores of Nineveh. Jonah went down into the belly of death for his disobedience, but God still had mercy on him. Likewise, during the Great Tribulation the people of Israel will think they are doomed, but God will deliver them. My friends, do you feel like the words of despair and hopelessness in the prayer of Psalm 42 and Jonah’s prayer describes how you feel today? I am sure that many of have been there. But you can pray with confidence, “The Lord will command His lovingkindness in the daytime, And in the night His song shall be with me.” God’s steadfast love and His endless mercy and grace assures us that He will deliver us. Hope in God, my friends, be strong in Christ, and He will deliver you from your enemies and from your depression. And as you walk by faith you will praise God forever more.
God Bless and have a great day in God’s Word.
