2 Chronicles 8:1-6 (NKJV) It came to pass at the end of twenty years, when Solomon had built the house of the Lord and his own house, 2 that the cities which Hiram had given to Solomon, Solomon built them; and he settled the children of Israel there. 3 And Solomon went to Hamath Zobah and seized it. 4 He also built Tadmor in the wilderness, and all the storage cities which he built in Hamath. 5 He built Upper Beth Horon and Lower Beth Horon, fortified cities with walls, gates, and bars, 6 also Baalath and all the storage cities that Solomon had, and all the chariot cities and the cities of the cavalry, and all that Solomon desired to build in Jerusalem, in Lebanon, and in all the land of his dominion.

The building of the temple took twenty years, half of Solomon’s reign, and God took special note of it. Here we read of Solomon’s other accomplishments and successes in various areas of his dominion. Solomon built many cities: storage cities, fortified cities, chariot cites, and other settlements. He went to war against Hamath Zobah and prevailed against it. In all his accomplishments, Solomon was careful to observe the sacrifices and offerings associated with the Jewish religious calendar. He also appointed priests and Levites to serve at these sacrifices and offerings. Thus, all that Solomon accomplished was well-ordered from beginning of the building of the temple building to the end. And so, it should be with the things that we do, it should be well ordered. Meaning, the things that matter to God must come first. God should be our priority. We should never be too busy accomplishing other things and lose sight of God. For what good would it be to accomplish great things without God?

God Bless and have a great day in God’s Word.
