1 Corinthians 15:1-4 (NKJV) Moreover, brethren, I declare to you the gospel which I preached to you, which also you received and in which you stand, 2 by which also you are saved, if you hold fast that word which I preached to you—unless you believed in vain. 3 For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, 4 and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures,

This portion of Scripture, 1 Corinthians 15:1-11, is titled “The Risen Christ, Faith’s Reality”.  The Apostle Paul did not dream up the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. Paul received it. On the road to Damascus Jesus appeared to Paul, and He identified Himself to Paul. Paul did not make up the idea that Jesus had risen from the dead. Paul had to be convinced, and so he was. On the road to Damascus, Paul saw the resurrected Christ, and he believed. Now, Paul says that he declares the gospel to all. What is the gospel that Paul preaches? This is the gospel, “that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures.” These three facts, my friends, is the gospel. Our Lord Jesus Christ died for our sins. He was buried. And on the third day He rose again. That is the gospel. It is the Good News because it does not tell us what we must do to be save, rather it tells us what our Lord Jesus Christ has already done for our salvation. Jesus died for our sins according to the Scriptures, He was buried, and He rose again on the third day. My friends, we are saved by the death and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. Without Jesus’ resurrection there would be no gospel, no living Christ, no Savior. News that Jesus had risen from the dead, that Jesus was alive, reached eleven discouraged men in Jerusalem and it transformed these men. It was the Good News that they needed to hear; it gave them faith. The risen Christ is faith’s reality. Faith in the resurrected, living, Christ brought the church into existence. We have faith my friends because Jesus is alive.

God Bless and have a great day in God’s Word.
