Proverbs 17:3 (NKJV) The refining pot is for silver and the furnace for gold, But the Lord tests the hearts.
To get pure silver and gold it has to be refined in fire to remove the dross and the pure silver and gold will remain. In the same manner God puts His children into the fire, the trials and tribulations of life, so that He can develop the characteristics of Christ His Son in us. God tries our hearts in order to strengthen our faith. God wants to produce in us a pure heart for His use. We are more precious to God than silver or gold. Therefore, we should not be discouraged when trials and tribulations come our way. Listen to the encouragement of Apostle Peter, he says, “In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while, if need be, you have been grieved by various trials, that the genuineness of your faith, being much more precious than gold that perishes, though it is tested by fire, may be found to praise, honor, and glory at the revelation of Jesus Christ” (1 Peter 1:6-7 NKJV). My friend, God’s way of refining our faith is through manifold trials. Therefore, we are to rejoice in our trials. But it can be a difficult thing to do when we are in the midst of a trial. So, what is the key to rejoicing in trials and tribulations? It is simply trusting in God. We ought to look to God and the marvelous inheritance which He has ready for us to receive in Christ Jesus His Son. We should stop trying to improve our old nature. It is not a better old nature that God wants of us. God is refining our new nature, our new heart, in Christ Jesus. Through trials and tribulations God brings us to maturity in our Christian life in order to strengthen our faith for His use. God allows trials and tribulations in our lives because He loves us and He wants us to know Him more and draw closer to Him. My friend, God can become more precious to you in the midst of the trials and tribulations that He lovingly allows in your life to produce a genuine faith in you.
God Bless and have a great day in God’s Word.
