Psalm 40:11-12 (NKJV) 11 Do not withhold Your tender mercies from me, O Lord; Let Your lovingkindness and Your truth continually preserve me. 12 For innumerable evils have surrounded me; My iniquities have overtaken me, so that I am not able to look up; They are more than the hairs of my head; Therefore my heart fails me.

Verses 11-17 of Psalm 40 seems to bring us to Calvary where our Savior shed His blood for us on the Cross. We hear Christ call out to the Father in distress. And we can imagine Jesus saying to the Father, “I have not hidden Your righteousness within my heart; I have declared Your faithfulness and Your salvation; I have not concealed Your lovingkindness and Your truth From the great assembly” (Psalm 40:10 NKJV). Jesus got the word out, the message of Salvation. Jesus told the people of the Father’s faithfulness and steadfast love. As Jesus in His humanity endured the torture of the Cross, we can hear Him say to the Father, “Do not withhold your tender mercies from me, let them continually preserve me.” There on the Cross, Jesus bore our sins, and so when Jesus says “My iniquities,” we must remember that they are our sins. “For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him” (2 Corinthians 5:21 NKJV). Before Creation, Jesus said “Yes” to the Father, “I will die for them.” There is truly no greater love than the love of Jesus. Jesus endured the Cross and died for us that we may be forgiven and be reconciled with God. My friend, God is reconciled. God the Father gave His Son Jesus Christ in a substitutional sacrifice for the payment of our sins. Yes, there on the Cross, Jesus took all our sins, and He paid it all. And all to Him we owe. With a failing heart, Jesus looked up to heaven, and said, ““it is finished.” And bowing His head, He gave up His spirit” (John 19:30 NKJV). God is reconciled, my friend. Jesus completed the Father’s plan of Salvation. Our redemption is finished. But, the only way, that we can receive God’s gift of Salvation is by accepting Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior. “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life” (John 3:16 NKJV). My friend, come to the Lord Jesus Christ for Salvation.

God Bless and have a great day in God’s Word.
